Trump Uses Bomb Sniffing Dogs to Score Points then Swats Them with a Newspaper
Dogs are attention-getters. Their furry bodies, liquid eyes, and tails that fly like flags in the breeze draw the eye. So, it makes sense that some politicians use dogs as a backdrop, hoping the positive publicity will resonate with voters. Usually, this is a no-fail PR stunt, except when hypocrisy crashes through.
On March 13, 2025, National K-9 Veterans Day, Donald Trump saluted the ‘fearless’ military and police dogs, describing them as ‘dedicated working dogs.’
Trump said this,
"Serving on the front lines, in combat zones, and at our borders, these fearless four-legged fighters are an invaluable part of protecting America." And this: “As we remember the fallen, we thank all of the brave veterans of the K-9 Corps who protect the American people and our way of life, living up to the name of man’s best friend."
While Trump trumpeted the heroism of several military dogs, he especially praised Rex, a German Shepherd who served in the Marines and, as Trump said, "saved countless lives by detecting explosives in combat in Iraq."
The painful irony is that one day after honoring these hard-working, heroic dogs for saving human lives, the Trump administration, via its brainchild DOGE, emailed TSA workers to no longer request funding for vet visits, kenneling, and dog food[1] on behalf of its canine bomb-sniffing staff.
The hypocrisy is gag-worthy.
This administration acts without a thought. It doesn’t care about consequences and ignores evidence showcasing its lies and failures.
Trump has no fear. Inside his actions, we see no consciousness or calculations regarding good or bad. Trump never evaluates the ramifications of what he is about to do.
Because he doesn’t care.
And why should this man give one whit about pissing people off; or about being fact-checked.
He faces zero consequences for his actions.
And for this reason, Trump is likely the most dangerous man ever to walk the face of this earth.
Our elected officials continuously excuse Trump and permit him to wage his worst. The court’s orders reversing Trump are ignored. The rule of law is quickly becoming obsolete. All that is left are we, the people. We are the stopgap to end the Trump/Musk destruction upon our homeland and the world, for that matter.
Today, I emailed TSA to ask if they can accept donations for dog food and funds for veterinary care for these dogs who save our lives at the risk of their own.
